Being an illustration student I definitely cannot get away with sending my family a shop bought card. If I did, they would know I hadn't put the time and effort in. Unfortunately around the time of my Dad's birthday I was heavily weighed down with university projects and epically failed at sorting that out. Therefore to make sure that I get a card to mum in time for her birthday, I have made it now!
This is a collection of process photos of how I drew the pattern onto tracing paper, which I then layered with some brown parcel paper.
I then wrote the lettering I wanted and pricked the holes around the lines for which to sew into.
I used a contrasting orange embroidery thread to back-stitch over the lettering.
This collection of papers was then glued onto a card to create a landscape birthday card.
